Visit of Fulbright Scholar From South Africa: Dr. Sylvan Blignaut

On March 28th, 2011 Universidad del Este welcomed Visiting Fulbright Lecturer Dr. Sylvan Blignaut of Nelson Mandela Metropolitan University in Port Elizabeth, South Africa! Dr. Blignaut is currently a Fulbright Post Doctoral Researcher at the University of Washington in Bothell. His visit was co-sponsored by both UNE’s School of Education and UNE´s Multi Language Learning Center.

Dr. Blignaut gave two presentations to UNE students, faculty and associates in the Salón de Actos.  Dr. Blignaut´s first presentation, “South Africa:  History, Culture and Future Challenges” offered a wonderful overview of the country of South Africa.  The second presentation, entitled “The Education System of South Africa:  Challenges and Opportunities” gave UNE students, faculty and associates a glimpse of the education system in South Africa and the role that it has played in the cultural and economic development of the nation. Both presentations were live-streamed over the Internet.  Scroll down to view Dr. Blignaut´s recorded presentation sessions!
