VIDEO: Brazilian Exchange Students Talk About Their Experience at UNE!

The Universidad Del Este (UNE) of the Ana G. Mendez University System (AGMUS) is delighted to announce that the two exchange students from Brazil have successfully completed their semester at UNE and will be returning to their home country this month after completing a fantastic study abroad experience in Puerto Rico!

The students, Ana Paula Teixeira Barreto and Emilane Pinheiro da Cruz Lima, completed courses at UNE’s School of Science and Technology during the January-May 2012 academic semester, through the UNE’s participation in the Internationalizing the Coastal Ecosystem Curriculum U.S. – Brazil FIPSE grant program.

The grant program was developed with four core partners: Universidad Metropolitana (UMET) and UNE of the AGMUS in Puerto Rico, and the Universidade Estadual Norte do Fluminense (UENF) and Universidade Federal do Ceará (UFC) in Brazil. Funding for the program is provided by the U.S. Department of Education, Office of Post-Secondary Education, and Fund for the Improvement of Postsecondary Education (FIPSE) U.S.-Brazil Project.

The presence of the Brazilian students on UNE’s campus this semester was a continuation of a longstanding exchange program between Brazilian and AGMUS institutions (UNE, UMET and Turabo universities) within the framework of the two U.S.- Brazil FIPSE Grant programs that have allowed for more than 40 students to be exchanged between AGMUS institutions and their Brazilian partner universities during the past 8 years.

Back at their home institution of Universidade Estadual do Norte Fluminense in the state of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, Ana Paula and Emilane are completing their final year of their undergraduate degree in Environmental Sciences.

Following the completion of their semester at UNE, the students participated in a video interview conducted by the Office of International, Federal and Corporate Affairs about their experiences at UNE and in Puerto Rico.
